A great loss. Lord Mayor of Zanzibar Mahmoud Muhammed Mussa has passed away

Today a most noble man Lord Mayor of Zanzibar City H.E. Mahmoud Muhammed Mussa has suddenly passed away. This is an irreparable loss for thousands of people in every corner of the world.

Some of us met H.E. Mahmoud Muhammed Mussa very recently on the New Era World Forum in Zanzibar in December of 2025 for the first time. But he immediately entered into our hearts and souls. We opened the summit together, cut the ribbon, he participated in all the sessions, we talked with him all the time outside the forum. As a hospitable host he showed us his city, he talked about local sights, people, interesting places, shared with us his grandiose plans. Due to multiple recommendations H.E. Mahmoud Muhammed Mussa was nominated for a prestigious global award Golden Chariot. He became the winner last year in the nomination «Person of the Year» and made history.

He wanted to establish African Mayoral Development Foundation and was able to do so. He opened the office, actively worked on the Foundation and planned to gather his first guests and participants in October 2026 in Zanzibar.

We believe that his Foundation will continue its work and all its guests and participants will always remember the Founder who was a great man, leader, family man, husband, father, friend.
